I'm an overseas student looking to return
Are there any private tests that might help me get back into the country?
If you are a foreign national who is looking to return home, you will quickly become aware that there are various testing requirements that may need to be met before you are able to enter your home country. These requirements can change from country to country however we will be on hand to help you.
How do I find out about the testing requirements for re-entry into my country?
The best place to start is by contacting the relevant embassy or consulate, they will be best placed to inform you which test they need you to take. It is also worth asking the airline you intend to travel with if they have any specific requirements for testing. For example carriers going to Italy are currently requesting a PCR antigen test result carried out 48 hrs before travel. These requirements are likely to change so please check with the airline before booking your test.
What tests should I use?
This is dependant on the requirements of the country you are travelling to. However if there are testing requirements in place you will likely be asked to undergo at least one of the following tests that we offer.
- Antigen PCR test: The test will be able to provide you with a diagnosis that will tell you whether you have the virus or not. However the test will not provide you with an indication of whether or not you are still infectious.
- Antibody test: Our instant antibody tests will tell you whether you have previously been in contact with the virus and can be used to indicate whether you may still be infectious.
Recommended Private Tests Available...
What can I expect from my local GP or the NHS?
Unfortunately, GP’s and the wider NHS do not currently distribute any antibody tests to the public. These instant antibody blood spot tests are only available to purchase.
Antigen PCR tests are available through the NHS, however you must meet specific criteria to be eligible. If you are not eligible but would still want a diagnosis, we have them available to purchase.
Please note that in the medical and testing industry, science and research are always changing. As such, facts and opinion written in our articles may become out of date and must never be considered medical advice. Always contact your GP If you are concerned about your health.
